Reserving a grave
You can reserve a grave at one of the cemeteries we manage. This may provide you with an opportunity to be close to an existing family grave, or could be beneficial if you have taken out a pre-paid funeral plan.
How to reserve a grave
- Complete the application to reserve a grave(pdf, 23KB).
- Send it, along with your payment to the Cemetery Office (cheques are made payable to LBRUT). Debit cards and credit card payments can be made by telephoning the Cemeteries Team.
Fees
You may reserve a grave for a period of one year up to a maximum of 5 years, for an annual fee which is non-refundable. The Cemetery Office will advise you once the reservation period is coming to an end and you have the choice to either renew or surrender the reserved grave. You can only reserve one grave space and the reservation does not issue you with any rights to erect a memorial, place flowers or mark the grave space in any way.
You will be able to choose the section of the cemetery in which you wish to reserve a grave. Maps are available to purchase. A suitable grave space will be allocated by the Cemeteries Service. Purchase and burial fees are payable when the first burial is required.
Contact the Cemetery Office to make an appointment with a member of staff who will meet you at your chosen cemetery and show you the options available.
