Finding house shares and lodging
If you are looking for a new home, sharing or lodging might be an option for you.
Why you should consider house shares
It is worth considering if you are single or a couple because renting a room in a shared house rather than renting a self-contained place can be cheaper and means you may have more choice about where you live. It might also give you a chance to save some money towards a deposit for your own place in future.
Under 35 and claiming benefits
This is a good option if you are under 35 years old, have no children and claiming housing benefit to cover your rent. This is because your housing benefit is limited to the shared room rate.
You can find out more about how much you are eligible for by using the Bedroom Calculator.
