Who can use the site

The recycling centre can be used by residents from Richmond upon Thames and other West London Waste Authority (WLWA) boroughs (Brent, Ealing, Harrow, Hillingdon, Hounslow).

Proof of residence will only be requested if you are arriving in a van or bringing DIY waste.

We accept a recent photo ID and utility bill (electricity, gas, or Council Tax) as proof of residency. The utility bill can also be shown on a smartphone.

Permitted vehicles

Visits to the recycling centre are limited to cars, motorcycles, bicycles (including trailers and cargo bikes) and small vans only. Pedestrians are not permitted.

Small vans are permitted as long as they have a load space (space inside of the vehicle that is designated to carry a load) no bigger than 1.7 x 1.5 x 1.2 metres (length x width x height).

If you booked a slot for a small van and you arrive in a large van, you will not be permitted on site.

What you can recycle

A large variety of materials can be disposed of at the recycling centre.

It is best to separate your recycling and waste before travelling to the site to ensure your items are placed in the correct containers.

We reserve the right to refuse any waste material that may compromise safety and/or storage on site. For this reason we do not accept tyres or any type of asbestos at this site.

Disposal charges

We only accept payment for waste disposal with a debit or credit card. If you do not have enough funds for payment this may be construed as illegal dumping, which is punishable with a fine up to £2,500.

Resident

There are no charges for disposing of most types of residential waste. However, charges do apply to construction and demolition wastes, including waste from preparatory works, except where all of the following apply:

  • The waste was produced at a domestic property by occupiers of that domestic property
  • No payment for the works that generated the waste was or will be made
  • The amount of waste delivered in a single visit is either less than 100 litres and capable of being fitted into two 50 litre bags, or a single article of waste no larger than 2000mm x 750mm x 700mm in size
  • The waste delivered does not exceed four single visits per household in any four week period

Qualifying for free waste disposal is at the discretion of the site manager if there is any doubt or dispute about whether all of the criteria have been met.

Trade

Charges for trade waste disposal depend on the type of waste and its gross weight.

All trade waste charges are exempt from VAT.

Buy a compost bin

Residents can buy compost bins and compostable sacks for garden waste at the recycling centre.

Compost bins are available in two different sizes:

  • 220 litre compost bin - £18.80
  • 330 litre compost bin - £21.20

Commercial and industrial waste

The recycling centre accepts commercial and industrial waste. Businesses transporting waste must be registered as a waste carrier with the Environment Agency in England.
