Calling all repairers to roll up your sleeves and get involved

2 March 2026

If you love DIY and repairing, why not volunteer at our new community repair and reuse hub and make a difference? Curious about repairing but not sure how to get started? Explore local resources and get inspired to kick‑start your repair journey this Repair Week.

The Fixery

Whether you’re handy with bikes, electrics, textiles, or simple household fixes, your skills can help people save money, reduce waste, and keep much‑loved items in use.

The Twickenham Repair café, Habitats & Heritage and more local groups are running stalls at our newly open community repair and reuse hub, The Fixery. They are looking for volunteer repairers to join their friendly, community‑led teams.

It’s a rewarding way to share your skills, meet like‑minded people, and support a more sustainable community. Contact the team on thefixery@richmond.gov.uk

Repair your old items

There are regular repair cafes across the borough. The Fixery, Twickenham Repair Café and Kew the Transition run free repair events for residents to get broken items fixed, learn repair skills, and connect with like-minded repairers.

If you’d rather fix things at home, the Library of Things in Twickenham can be very useful. They have sewing machines, drills, jigsaws, and a range of tools available to borrow. Get 15% off your first rental, using the code TKLOT15.

Green Richmond

Green Richmond highlights local businesses and organisations who can help you to do everything from reducing waste, eating better for the planet and being energy efficient to greener travel and volunteering opportunities.

Find out more on the Green Richmond website, including links to other websites that offer more general advice.

Donate, sell and share

With everyone’s involvement, we can move a step closer toward a zero-waste community and keep good items in use for longer.

If you have items you no longer need or want, find out how they can be repaired, reused, or shared to benefit the community and reduce waste.
