2023 Parliamentary Constituency Boundary Review
The independent Boundary Commission for England (BCE) are redrawing the map of constituencies in England and needs your help to shape their final recommendations, ensuring they take into consideration local knowledge and views.
Background
In June 2021 the BCE published their initial proposals. View initial proposals for the London region.
From 8 June until 2 August 2021 the BCE held an eight week consultation that allowed residents to share their knowledge of their local area.
Consultation
Residents have a final chance to have their say in a new, last stage consultation on parliamentary boundary changes.
Revised proposals
On Tuesday 8 November 2022 the BCE published new revised proposals for parliamentary constituencies across the country with this month-long consultation, giving residents a last opportunity to send in their views.
The commission has taken into consideration over 45,000 comments sent in by the public across the country during the previous two stages of public consultation and has changed nearly half of its initial proposals based on this feedback. This third and final consultation on the new map of revised constituency proposals is open now until Monday 5 December 2022. The public are invited to view and comment on the new map.
The commission is undertaking an independent review of all constituencies in England as requested by Parliament. The number of electors within each constituency currently varies widely due to population changes since the last boundary review. The 2023 Boundary Review will rebalance the number of electors each MP represents, resulting in significant change to the existing constituency map. As part of the review, the number of constituencies in England will increase from 533 to 543.

What happens next
After this last consultation has closed on Monday 5 December 2022, the commission will analyse the responses and form its final recommendations. These will be submitted to Parliament by 1 July 2023.
