Bank holiday parking arrangements

Take special care where you park your cars over the bank holidays for the Christmas and New Year period:

Controlled parking zones (CPZ)

On Wednesday 24 December 2025 enforcement of all CPZ bays that normally operate will cease by no later than 5pm (Christmas Eve) or earlier where the signs on street so specify.

On Thursday 25 December 2025 (Christmas Day) there will be no enforcement of any CPZs.

Most CPZ bays will not operate on the bank holidays over the Christmas and New Year break.

All CPZs will be in operation on all other days across the Christmas and New Year break as follows:

  • Saturday 27 December 2025
  • Sunday 28 December 2025
  • Monday 29 December 2025
  • Tuesday 30 December 2025
  • Wednesday 31 December 2025 (New Year’s Eve)
  • Friday 2 January 2026

Normal operation of CPZs will resume and continue in 2026 from 2 January inclusive.

This is a general guide - you should always refer to signs on the street when parking. Find out more about CPZ operation hours.

North Kew (Zone KC) and event zone operation

Event zone restrictions will apply from 13 November 2025 to 5 January 2026 (inclusive). This effectively extends the daytime CPZ (Zone KC), that ceases at 4.30pm, to 11pm. The daytime CPZ operates as normal every day from 10am to 4.30pm. The event zone will not be applied or enforced on Thursday 25 December 2025.

Yellow line restrictions

Avoid parking on a yellow line, because yellow line restrictions can apply five, six, or seven days a week dependant on the area and can include the three days:

  • 25 and 26 December 2025
  • 1 January 2026

This is because yellow lines are situated at locations where parked vehicles could be a hazard or cause an obstruction.

Parking bays

If you leave your car in a parking bay that is only available for part of the day, you should check the signs carefully to avoid parking there when the yellow line restrictions come into force.

Driveways, specialist bays and dropped kerbs

You should not obstruct driveways or park unlawfully in specialist bays, such as doctors' bays and mandatory disabled bays. If you do, you might be penalised.

Also, you should not park across dropped kerbs. These are found on virtually every street corner and allow disabled people and parents with pushchairs to safely cross the road.

Motorists who obstruct driveways or park unlawfully in doctors' bays or mandatory disabled bays could also be penalised.
