Renew a business parking permit
A permit can only be renewed if it is for the same:
- name and address;
- Controlled Parking Zone; and
- vehicle (if originally issued for a specific vehicle).
If any of the above has changed you will need to apply for a new permit.
Before you start
The quickest and easiest method is to renew your permit online.
If your permit is linked to a Richmond Account, you will be sent a reminder email, at least one month before your permit expires.
If you do not have your permit linked to a Richmond Account (or your permit is not linked to your Richmond Account), you will be sent a reminder by post, at least one month before your permit expires.
If you have a valid parking permit, you can log in to your Richmond Account and follow the on-screen instructions to link it.
What you will need
Before you begin your application you will need to ensure you have:
Received a renewal email
If you were sent an email you should then login to your account to renew.
Or received a renewal letter
If you received a letter you will be asked to enter some of the details from it:
- your 13 digit reference number*
- your vehicle registration number
- your postcode
*If this code does not work your permit may have expired. If this is the case you will need to complete a new application (or Twickenham event zone application).
Submit your renewal and pay
You will need a valid credit or debit card in order to complete your renewal online.
You can renew your permit for a period of 3, 6 or 12 months. To find out how much you will need to pay for your permit, visit business parking permit costs.
Twickenham (R) and North Kew event zone permits are free of charge and do not require a payment.
Failed payments
Bounced cheques or failed card payments due to insufficient funds will invalidate any permit(s) issued and will incur a £10 administration fee. If there is a technical problem with your application or you are not sure if your payment as been made, contact our Web Team at web.team@richmond.gov.uk.
What happens next
You should receive your new permit by post within 10 working days. If you have not received your permit after this time, you can contact us on 020 8891 1411 during office hours, or email parkingpermits@richmond.gov.uk.
When you get your new permit
Each new permit will be issued with a protective cover. This should be affixed to the inside of your windscreen on the passenger side. The permit must always be displayed so that it is visible. Failure to do so could result in a Penalty Charge Notice (PCN).
Read our guide to find out how to use your business parking permit.
Receipt
Your permit letter will include a printed tear-off receipt. There is also an option to receive a receipt by email on the online renewal form.
What to do with your old permit
Once you receive your new permit, it is important that you no longer display the old permit in your vehicle. You do not have to return the old permit to us but we advise you to remove the old permit from your vehicle immediately, and write the word 'Void' across the front. You can then dispose of the old permit.
