Community growing in parks
We have several locations across the borough where you can get involved in community growing.
Community growing brings people together to grow plants and produce. At each site, we encourage local residents to take an active role in looking after the space, with the aim of becoming self‑sustaining.
Benefits of community growing
These spaces offer a wide range of benefits, including:
- Supporting social interaction and inclusion
- Helping reduce loneliness
- Improving physical and mental wellbeing
They can also be used for learning and educational purposes.
Community growing can also increase local biodiversity and help reduce carbon emissions linked to food transport.

Community growing spaces
There are six community growing spaces across the borough:
- Cambridge Gardens - A mix of raised and ground level beds, with a central sensory bed
- Jubilee Meadow - Raised beds for community planting
- Hounslow Heath - A crescent shaped perennial bed and a small orchard
- Vine Road Recreation Ground - Community growing space managed by Barnes Common Limited
- Meadway Orchard (Crane Park) - A community orchard with areas for vegetable growing
- York House Gardens - Raised beds with a focus on sensory planting

How to get involved
